Piggyback settings

Access these settings via Env Data > Layout Settings > Piggyback. See Create Piggyback Truss for more information.

Field Descriptions


Setting Description

Piggyback Type

Select one of the following:

  • Raise Bottom Chord of Piggyback - extends the top chord down to rest on the flat top chord of the base truss, with a gap for purlins. This is the default setting.

  • Drop Top Chord of Base Truss - drops the top chord of the base truss to allow for purlins and cap truss to sit inside the base truss.

hoa = O/A yHeight of Base; hbc = Height of Base above BC;hpb = height of PiggyBack; dft = Dim of Flat Top

This setting populates the How defined drop down box in the Piggyback Dialog to define the following:

hoa = Overall height of base

hbc = Height of base above bottom chord

hpb = Height of Piggyback

dft = Dimension of flat top

Dimension to create cap

Populates the Dimension drop down box in the Piggyback Dialog window to specify a dimension based upon the How Defined choice

Separation distance between BC of cap and TC of base truss

Separation distance between the bottom chord of the cap truss and the top chord or the base truss in the Piggyback Dialog window. Listed as Purlin Gap.

Gap distance between OH of cap and TC of base truss

Gap distance between the overhang of cap and the top chord of base truss in the PiggyBack Dialog window. Listed as OH Gap in the Piggyback Dialog window.

Piggyback Stud Spacing Spacing between piggyback studs
Piggyback Stud Direction Direction of piggyback studs. Choose from Peak Out, L to R, R to L, Ends In

Size TC

Populates the Piggyback Dialog TC Size for bottom chord depth to be member depth specified. Enter values as 02-08, 03-08, 05-08, 07-04

Size BC

Populates the Piggyback Dialog BC Size for the bottom chord depth to be member depth specified. Values should be entered as 02-08, 03-08, 05-08, 07-04.

Size Web

Populates the Piggyback Dialog Web Size for the web depth to be member depth specified. Values should be entered as 02-08, 03-08, 05-08, 07-04.

TC OH Butt cut

Define top chord overhang butt cut.

BC Butt cut

Define bottom chord butt cut.

g = gable; t = truss

Value of g places gable studs at specified on center spacing of gable studs for piggy back cap. Value of t places a king post in the piggy back cap truss.

Draw cap offset from base on layout

True displays the piggy back cap truss offset from the base truss in the overhead view of the layout so that the cap can easily be selected and seen.
